Catch a Dream and Hang On by Jan Davis

“And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it to his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.” - Gen. 37:5

“And He said, Hear now my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the LORD will make myself known unto him in a vision, and will speak unto him in a dream.” - Num. 12:6

“And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.” - Acts 2:17

We are familiar with Martin Luther King Jr.’s speech, “I Have a Dream.” He took his dream to the streets and touched the lives of over 250,000 people. His dream for equal rights has not stopped, but continues to touch lives 50 years later. Others have caught hold of his dream and continue the advancement of equal rights.

Joseph had a dream, and when he shared it with his brothers and father, they laughed and ridiculed him; but this didn’t stop him from dreaming. When his life did not live up to the expectations of his dreams, he remained faithful to God and continued to believe. God, in His perfect time, brought Joseph out of prison to fulfill his dreams and God’s plan and purpose. He saved not only the land of Egypt, but also Israel from famine and was reunited with his family. They did indeed bow before Joseph, out of respect for his position.

Has God given you a dream? Have you allowed man or circumstances to steal it? If so, you have also been robbed of a blessing God has planned for you. His thoughts are higher than our thoughts and His ways higher than our ways. We cannot comprehend what the Lord has in store for us. We are to catch hold of our dreams and watch as God brings them from the supernatural into the natural. Regardless of the ridicule we may receive, the risks we may have to take, and despite how long we wait, we should never lose sight of our dream, His plan and purpose for our life.

Your dream is waiting for you to reach out, grab hold of in faith and never let go. God will quiet the naysayers. He will provide a way where there seems to be no way. He will open doors of blessings to us and close doors for our protection. All we need is faith in the One who gives dreams, to believe in ourselves and to have courage to pursue our future.

I love you, but Jesus loves you more.
